lights, camera…
I look at the date of the last entry and I’m mortified … once again, I have easily proven to everybody that I am, indeed, the laziest member of the band.
But at least I’m doing something about it now. Of course, the other members have been, let me just say, quite encouraging (death threats and all). Well, here goes.
I’m sure that some of you might be a bit curious as to how the Oblivion video shoot turned out. Well, to put it lightly, we had tons of fun doing the video shoot. Unless you’re there doing it, one doesn’t really have a clear idea how much fun and weird (yeah, weird) it is shooting a music video. And we owe it all to Rember Gelera who’s responsible for conceptualizing and directing the first Hastang music video.
Just to give our readers an idea of what the music video is about: It is set in a decrepit, old house (shot in location somewhere in Novaliches) and all of us band members are rocking our a***s in certain parts of the house (sometimes in various states of undress … just kidding) all searching for oblivion (so to speak).
As of this writing, we have already viewed a rough copy of the music video and needless to say, we’re very delighted with what we’ve seen so far. Hopefully, the music video will be in circulation among music video channels in the next two months. Do watch out for that one.
We also had a chance to do a gig in 6 Underground in Makati (our Freedom Bar gig was cancelled due to inclement weather, which is funny because it was kinda sunny when we got there). 6UG might seem like a nice, cozy place—reminiscent of the first Artist Dais—but for the music enthusiast, this rock hub is indie mecca. 6UG has already played host to some of the best kickass indie bands in the country like Kamikazee, Urbandub, Rocksteddy, Sheila and the Insects, Faspitch, Mayonnaise, just to name a few. That night, we played with Kiko Machine (always a joy to see this guys), Reklamo (featuring some awesome fretwork), Toyo, 7DaysOff and Lovecore.
And just like that, the weekend was over and we found ourselves at the airport terminal still dazed and making up impromptu jingles using airport terms as lyrics to the tune of Rupert Holmes’ “Terminal”. There goes our indie cred.
But we will be back. You betcha.
